Alright, I need some help. I work as a designer at a place that specializes in printing vinyl banners. We have a large corporate client who wants to print banners for each of the businesses using their service. The number I've heard thrown around is ~40,000 banners. The corporate client is designing us a banner, and leaving an area for the business owners to fill in the name of their business. Our printer has an option to use a "hot folder", in essence it will immediately print whatever is saved to the folder.
So here's the issue: I need to find a way to create an online form where the business owners can go to fill in the name of their business, and see how it looks before submitting it. And once submitted, a ready-to-print .pdf or .eps file needs to be sent to our hot folder.
Initially I was thinking of trying to do it using Adobe LiveCycle Designer and the text form functionality in Adobe Acrobat/Reader. But the art will definitely be too complex for that program, and it wouldn't be as user-friendly for the business owners as we want.
If anyone has any ideas on how to program a simple-but-effective interface, or any other ideas on the matter, please don't hesitate to contact me. You can leave a comment on this blog post, or email me at Honsou@gmail.com! Thanks!
If I can figure this out, I'll be helping our company get a ~40,000 banner order... which is a very big deal. Also, there may be compensation for anyone who puts work in to help me figure this out.
